POST: Student Support Officer X1

Six Months Contract

Salary notch: R308 154.00 per annum

Requirements: ·Matric certificate or equivalent  · A recognized National Diploma/Degree in Social Science / Psychology / Education or equivalent relevant qualification. ·1-2 years’ experience in student support services Education/ Teaching and Learning environment or related field. · Knowledge of TVET environment. Proven knowledge of Psychology practice. ·Teaching background Public Service legislative framework such as Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, PFMA, Treasury Regulations. ·Good communication skills and interpersonal skills ·Problem solving · Programmed and project management · Ability to perform routine tasks. ·Computer literacy (MS Office) ·Valid Code EB Drivers Licence  ·Experience in the TVET sector will be an added advantage.

Key Results Areas: · Provide student liaison services at the Campus  ·Provide welfare support to students by liaising between stakeholder/persons. ·Prepare weekly and monthly reports. ·Assist students as and when required. ·Assist with academic support plan for identified students. ·Attend to any student accommodation needs. ·Guide students to make the right decision and improve their performance. ·Promote regular attendance of students and monitor the attendance register  ·Conduct home visits when necessary and interview/counsel students, staff, families and other relevant stakeholders in order to identify contributing factors associated with low attendance concerns. ·Support student, families by establishing and delivering absence reduction  ·Ensure that there is continuous awareness and level of knowledge in HIV/AIDS to students’ programmes. ·Address socio-economic student matters appropriately including substance and other relevant matters. ·Manage and maintain, in consultation with and under direct from AD: SSS, a pro-active and relevant Student Support Services for the campus. ·Monitor and manage the student leadership and student body and their activities. ·Produce requisite reports for submission to the Assistant Manager: SSS, based on the strategic and operational targets and goals of the Unit and college. ·Maintain and improve student support systems, including career guidance and assist with placement of students for in-service training and on-the-job training  ·Assist the development, formulation and implementation academic support  ·Co-ordinate all students’ activities such as sport, cultural activities and wellness programmes
